Q. What is UK Business Exchange?
A. It is an independent website for business people and entrepreneurs who
need access to the latest business news, information, services or equipment.
Q. Is it focused on any particular industry?
A. No, this is a website for everyone involved in business, whatever size
of company or sector. It will have four main sections; expert articles, news and
press releases , business directory and events.
Q. How does it work?
A. We have created the articles section so that anyone with knowledge of
an industry or discipline who has written a feature which could help other people
in business, can post the piece on the website (having secured a password).
What this means is that UK Business Exchange will have a fantastic archive of
experiences, case studies and opinion, written by people who really understand
business. This will greatly benefit those looking for relevant information on
the exchange.
Many companies write newsletters, articles and press releases on their own websites
demonstrating their strengths. UK Business Exchange aims to become a place where
all businesses will upload their PR. This will achieve two things. Firstly, it
will let everyone know what local companies are up to, be it a new office opening,
contract wins, recruitment campaigns etc. Secondly, it will generate original
text, which will attract high ratings from Google optimizing the chances of being
read. Through the website we can build up a database of information on thousands
of businesses and industry sectors for visitors to access.
The business directory and classified section, will enable visitors to buy or
sell businesses, computer or office equipment. It is rare that companies stand
still. They usually grow or shrink, but either way they have needs and this part
of the site aims to match buyers and sellers and business needs. That is the core
theme of the site, whether it is information, advice, new employees or funding
we hope that we can help and in doing so create a leading business community website.
Q. What about jobs and recruitment?
A. Companies can post job ads in the classified section. We hope to drive
those looking for new employment to the website where they can look for jobs but
also scan press releases to learn more about the potential employer. Managers
can read about the best ways to interview, appraise and retain candidates. This
section of the UK Business Exchange is a 'one-stop-shop' for both employers and
employees.
We have also created an events and networking section. Networking is vital in
developing new sales leads and increasing brand awareness. As such a complete
summary of events including breakfasts, conferences and seminars will help businesses
plan their networking calendar. So if you have events to publicise or if you are
a potential attendee, then the site is for you. Realistically this part of the
site will take time to build up, but we already have good relationships with the
local Chambers and networking events and I think pretty quickly we will become
a key part of their recruitment strategy
Q. How are you going to drive traffic to your site?
A. The content will be updated throughout the day, which will keep the
sight optimal for the search engines. The Venturer, which has a combined circulation
of 40,000, will publish the best or most relevant features posted on the site,
giving the authors extra exposure. We have strong relationships with scores of
businesses and government initiatives and our contacts are very positive about
symbiotic relationships to increase traffic numbers.
Q. Where do you see this going?
A. Being an entrepreneur or owner of a business can be very lonely and
frustrating so I hope that the website will offer a network from which people
can get advice and help to lessen the burden. It would be fair to say that the
government doesn't help with their ever-changing legislation so a key part of
the site is keeping everyone up to date, hopefully giving them the best possible
chance of success and profitability. I would also like to add that while the site
is in its infancy, any constructive criticism will be gratefully accepted. Please
come and visit us!
